Today happiness has been my new "go, go power rangers" ringtone. Everytime I hear the beepity beep of a T message coming my way I feel like I'm being called to go save the world.

Today
happiness was getting out of my dress and into some sweats and being lazy and comfy with a certain somebody.

Good Food and Fine Conversation
on this day, saturday, the sixteenth of january in the year two thousand and ten, these things are making me particularly happy:
-the promise of learning french in order to hold secret spy conversations
-stuffing myself till i couldn't breathe for pre-birthday fun at this place (its not just dinner...its entertainment!)
-this poem from this book (for anyone who loves poetry whether they know it or not):

Courage
Anne Sexton
It is in the small things we see it.
The child's first step,
as awesome as an earthquake.
The first time you rode a bike,
wallowing up the sidewalk.
The first spanking when your heart
went on a journey all alone.
When they called you crybaby
or poor or fatty or crazy
and made you into an alien,
you drank their acid
and concealed it.
Later,
if you faced the death of bombs and bullets
you did not do it with a banner,
you did it with only a hat to
cover your heart.
You did not fondle the weakness inside you
though it was there.
Your courage was a small coal
that you kept swallowing.
If your buddy saved you
and died himself in so doing,
then his courage was not courage,
it was love; love as simple as shaving soap.
Later,
if you have endured a great despair,
then you did it alone,
getting a transfusion from the fire,
picking scabs off your heart,
then wringing it out like a sock.
Next, my kinsman, you powdered your sorrow,
you gave it a back rub
and then you covered it with a blanket
and after it had slept a while
it woke to the wings of the roses
and was transformed.
Later,
when you face old age and its natural conclusion
your courage will still be shown in the little ways,
each spring will be a sword you'll sharpen,
those you love will live in a fever of love,
and you'll bargain with the calendar
and at the last moment
when death opens the back door
you'll put on your carpet slippers
and stride out.

What? I have a blog?
Since its been however many months let's just forget the past and start anew, pretending that I am just barely starting to blog mmkay?
Great!
So I am putting a new spin on this here bliggity blog of mine. I went public for one thing (I'm not alone in a foreign country anymore, so madre can rest a little easier), and and I really could not care less if anyone ever reads this.
My new-found blogging motivation is due to a few things:
I miss writing.
I don't have FB anymore so my computer time has freed up considerably.
Many signs have recently been pointing me in the direction of recording my thoughts, and who am I to argue with the universe?
The title of my blog (which I'm totally proud of BTW) works prefectamundo with my new direction. Nothing would make me happier than living in an infinite summer. An infinite summer is also what I strive for my state of mind to be. That being said, this blog is now hereby and henceforth dedicated to all things that make me happy. It could be lists, a story, philosophical observations, one word, a picture... Its my version of a gratitude journal, and I'm pretty pleased about it.
Today happiness is something that happened yesterday (a bit of a cheat I know, but whatever, its my blog).
This nonchalant little exchange happened while examining this photograph.

I WILL do this
Don't ask me how many times I've watched this, you don't want to know.
Maybe its because I secretly wish my life was a musical...but
I LOVE THIS.
I cannot wait for my wedding music video.

I Love
These people.
They are Max and Suoma Lieber, and this picture says it all.
We are somehow related, distantly.
They are pretty much my surrogate grandparents out here, and come to my rescue when I need it most.
They have taken me out to dinner more than once, Max brought me fresh strawberries at work, and they sit by me in church.
Last time we were at dinner I asked how they met, and this is their story:
Max: We met in London. I was from Switzerland and she was from Finland.
I was not a member yet, and she had been for a couple years.
I went to a night where the organ was played at the church, and was told about a single's dance that would be going on next week.
I went, and Suoma and I were the only ones who did not have a dance partner, so they said,
"You can dance with each other!"
Suoma: And we've been dancing ever since!
Max: And then three weeks later when she dropped me off at the train station, I said,
"I'm going to marry you, you know."
She said, "You're crazy!"
(They both laugh.)
They are the greatest.

Facebook Knows What's Up
Yes, its true, sometimes I take Facebook quizzes.
Only the good ones.
Sara completed the quiz "What U.S. state do you belong in?" with the result Hawaii.

You truly see the world as your oyster. Life, to you, is one big playground. Money means very little to you.. Uncle Sam, who? And as far as you are concerned, beyond sand, surf, and sun, there's nothing more in the world you could ask for. You are most at ease and comfortable when your hair is wet, your toes are sandy, and your drink is cold. Friends and family mean a lot to you, but that doesn't mean you have to spend every waking hour together; sometimes you find comfort in solitude. And plus, absence makes the heart grow fonder. You will, however, find that one person that really completely you.. and once you do, you'll never want to live a day without them..
Me to a T.
I'll make it there someday. Don't be worried...
I'm not.
